Navigating disputes for small businesses and sole traders in the building and construction industry can be complex and a stressful process!

This free information session will outline the relevant responsibilities of contractors and subcontractors under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act 2009 and outline the process of submitting payment claims

This session will also explore the proposed Fair Trading (Building and construction Industry Dispute Resolution Code) Regulations 2017 which can compel disputing parties in the building and construction industry to participate in an alternative dispute resolution procedure with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner.

Presented by Kerry O’Donnell, Education Program Manager, Office of the Small Business Commissioner together with construction, engineering infrastructure and energy law specialist Jeanie Elliott, Partner at Fenwick Elliott Grace who will be able to address your questions about legal obligations under the legislation.
